Looking for a fun, fast-paced opportunity?   Do you enjoy being busy?  Would you prefer to volunteer near your home, community or workplace?
Become a volunteer High School Hero  at one of our over 80 high school blood drives in Montgomery, Greene, Clinton, Warren, Butler, Preble, Darke, Miami, Shelby, Logan, Champaign, Clark, Preble counties or the Indiana counties of Randolph, Wayne or Union
We offer three volunteer opportunities available in 2009 and 2010:
Hydration Hero – hand each student a bottle of water to provide sufficient fluids and hydrate the student prior to their blood donation
Traffic Manager – monitor, guide and assist the students to follow the path from registration, to testing, to donation to the Donor Café for refreshments.
Guest Relations Ambassador- assure donors receive food and drink post-donations, distribute gift/incentive items to donors ,schedule future appointments  and thank students/faculty for their donation of the ‘Gift of Life.’
Please complete the special High School Team application. You must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Weekdays:  Monday through Friday – Dayton, Ohio office
Early Evenings:  Monday through Thursday – Dayton, Ohio  office
Weekdays and early evenings: Monday through Friday  - at a variety of suburban sites and branches in Montgomery, Warren, Shelby, Darke and Green counties

This position is the ‘heart’ and first impression to donors who are giving life-saving blood to others in our community. As an Ambassador, you will assist donors to feel valued, welcomed and appreciated for their ‘gift of life’ – their blood donation.
You’ll provide exceptional guest relations by greeting and welcoming donors, monitoring and directing  donors within our site, answering general questions, serving  refreshments, assisting donors to schedule an appointment or directing  them to our online e-donor site for future appointments.

If you possess a warm and caring attitude, enjoy meeting new people and are willing to share your time and talents, we welcome you as a Guest Relations Ambassador.

 

GIFT OF LIFE COURIER
Age: 23+

Weekdays: Monday through Friday- Dayton, Ohio office

As a Gift of Life Courier, using our Suburban vehicles, you will safely transport wrapped, sealed boxes of blood products from our mobile sites in 15 counties to our Main office in downtown Dayton. 
You must  pass a criminal background check and drug screen, have a safe driving record, be insurable by our insurance provider and able to lift up to 40 pounds.

You will transport the Gift of Life for thousands of adults and children including your neighbors, friends and family members.  We request a minimum of 8 hours per month.

The activities of this volunteer opportunity range from compiling survey data to filing confidential papers; from conducting phone surveys to inputting data and much more.

You will join our team of professionals to support the HEROES who donate blood or the families of loved ones  who provide the Gift of Life through tissue donation.

If you have a passion for helping others, enjoy a variety of duties and believe YOU can make a difference,  join our teams.

We will work with your skills and needs to find appropriate duties that appeal to you. Call for details on the extensive opportunities.

 

                                  
MEMORY BOOK HERO

As a Memory Book Hero you will create the scrapbook pages that contain the stories written by families about their loved one.  This special scrapbook accompanies the Connected by Giving Remembrance Quilt to hundreds of sites and health fairs throughout our service area. It is a lasting memory for the family.
We will provide the materials, items and a variety of scrapbook supplies. You decide to create each unique page. Can you bring your unique talents to this special scrapbook?

Event Support
We host donor remembrance celebration events bi-annually for local families of organ, eye and tissue donors.  Can you assist us with the details, preparation, hosting and/or mailings?

Community Presenter
Do you enjoy meeting and speaking to people? We are seeking energetic, caring tissue recipients and tissue donor families who would like to share their stories with others. We will train you on the facts about organ, eye and tissue donation, Community Tissue Services and the Ohio Donor Registry. Your support can make a difference in the lives of others.
If you possess a warm and caring personality, a willingness to share your time and talents and enjoy talking to people about organ, eye and tissue donation, please consider this opportunity.  We will provide the training and work with your schedule to find times and dates for events within the community.

This opportunity is available in our Dayton and Toledo Ohio –Community Tissue Services offices.

PACKING PARTY TEAM
Do you have a corporate, social  or civic group that is seeking a meaningful project?  We offer group projects throughout the year to support our Blood Center and Tissue Services.

You must be detail oriented, enjoy working in a group setting and having fun!  We ask for a four-hour commitment and offer Group opportunities Monday through -Friday.
Our Hero Support Teams and Packing Party Teams support both our Blood and Tissue Services.  Groups pack incentive items and small support items. We welcome groups from 2- 30+ people to our Hero Support Teams. Please click on the Group Ambassador Application or contact us at the number below.

We provide orientation and training for each specific opportunity.  We prefer a minimum of four (4) hours but we can work with your schedule. Other hours and locations may be available. Call for 461-3287 details.

We have externships available in our Human Resources department and in limited Ohio branch locations.  You must be a college student or recent college graduate to qualify for these externships.  We will work with both you and your college to set an appropriate schedule. Let us help you build your portfolio with meaningful projects and duties.
